Acquire the skills to build your career as a civil engineer
This program is designed for you if you are currently employed full-time as a practicing engineer or want to enhance your skills before entering the industry. It combines technical engineering courses with classes focused on professional development, tailored to support your career growth. The structures track specifically addresses the design of buildings, bridges, and other structures. You’ll also engage with applying mechanics, which is foundational for all structural analysis and design you may encounter in your work.
Alongside enhancing your professional development skills, you will acquire valuable knowledge and abilities in the following areas:
- Understanding complex material behavior and failure theories.
- Analyzing structural stability and conducting buckling analysis.
- Examining the dynamic behavior and response of structures.
- Conducting and analyzing structural dynamics experiments.
- Assessing crack behavior and structural integrity.
- Applying Finite Element Method (FEM) for complex structural analysis.
- Gaining insight into various types of bridges and their design considerations.
- Evaluating the safe load capacity of existing bridges.
- Designing resilient bridges capable of withstanding extreme loads.
- Implementing rapid bridge construction techniques.
- Developing an in-depth knowledge of complex reinforced concrete design.
- Engaging in the design of complex steel structures and prestressed concrete.
- Understanding and applying structural monitoring techniques.
